Festival is one of the longest continuing agriculture festivals in Louisiana, and has earned that distinction largely through involvement by community members and community volunteerism.
Entertainers over the recent years have included Marcia Ball, Percy Sledge, Emma Thomas, and Ricky Skaggs.
By the time the 2009 festival closed, it involved approximately several hundred volunteers from civic clubs, businesses and churches, and over 100 businesses and organizations that sponsored events.
The economic impact of the festival is typically $2 million or more annually.
The peak season for fresh Ruston peaches is mid-June through mid-July.
